MiniScmd Module

(Toxic theme w/ BB2 skin)

Introduction

Do you ever use the command prompt or the run dialog built into the start menu for running one liners? Well, this run dialog is built into the Sharpe Bar for quick and easy access that gives you the same functionality and more!

Settings

There are only two settings that you can change; enable/disable the Quick Select Button and the actual size of the Minicmd box.

Quick Select Button

This button has several features as listed below:

File

This option within the quick select button allows you to do a simple, file - open command as well as recording what applications/commands are ran through the minicmd and sorting them in the recent and most used lists.

Drive

Drive is simply that, what drive letters you have assigned in your computer and opening them as if you were in "My Computer."

Directory

Works like file open, only built for opening directories. You can also open shell folders; these are folders that are variable and sometimes much more convenient. Example: %windir% is a shell folder that is redirected to where windows is installed. For myself, it is the default C:\windows, however it could be F:\windows or any other path. These shell paths work great for scripts that you would like to share with the community. ..\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe may work for most people however if you were to use %programfiles%\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe it will work with a larger percentage, if not %99.99 of the users you share it with.

Script

Simply runs scripts you have in your script folder. IE: %wheveryouputsharpe%\Settings\User\%username%\Scripts

Actions

These are built in actions in the sharpe shell engine. They are all pretty self explanatory. I personally don't see a use for this over writing your own script because there are not many cases where you will need just one 'action.'

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the only better alternative to this built in minicmd you may ask? Well I will answer with "Slick Run" http://www.bayden.com/SlickRun/ If you agree, ask Sharpe Developers for the same functionality to be put in minicmd! Features such as tabular auto completion of directories and custom built commands. Ability to make custom commands that run scripts (example: you make a script that remotes a home computer and name it 'remote home.' You would start typing remote home and stop after typing 'rem' and press tab, the tabular completion would kick and and finish the phrase, 'remote home,' then you press enter and it runs your remote home script.
